Boom – V2A atomized Annotopia!

Finally the time had come: From September 09th to 11th V2A appeared like a thunder storm in the realm of Annotopia and whirled the costumed crowd with their power as they climbed the stage. This took place 5 times during the Annotopia weekend. We expected signs of fatigue on Sunday at the latest, but V2A doesn't seem to know it, at least on stage. They give everything!
With the first awesome electronic beats they showed the audience why they fit to a fantasy festival like Annotopia: Their outfit was perfectly post-apocalyptic style and the lyrics of their songs mostly are showing aspects of this special universe!
Their concert stage was part of the so-called „Endzeit“ (post apocalyptic) camp, which was a bit segregated by the castle wall, forming a world of its own. The stage is actually a point of criticism, as it was way too small for a performance like V2A have to offer. Also the lightshow was rather sparse. This was balanced out by the surprising use of fire eaters and real flame throwers, which also seemed much more stylish in this context.
The older track "Burn The Witch" was the start of the show, which was appropriately supported by the fire artists of Atomiq Circus. This should be the beginning of a powerful performance, which was exciting until the end despite the handicap of the small space. Anyway, the platforms were shaking more and more with every performance.
It was not surprising that the audience started to move their bodies at the first beats, which partly ended in a pogo. It is action what Mechanized (Voice- Reina I.Lehmann) and Drone (Voice Kevin Judgedrone) showed and what they expect from their audience: just standing around is not accepted! They know how to grab the crowd and keep them moving. This is not astonishing because of powerful industrial songs like „Freak Show“, “Toxic”, "War Boy" and last but not least the cover of "Hate Is Just A 4 Letter Word" by the Dark Wave/Electro Punk band "Shock Therapy", who enriched the music world with an immortal classic with this song in the 90s.
It is to V2A's credit that they perform on small stages just as vivid and with heart and soul as they do on a big stage like at this year's Amphi Festival. Annotopia provided the absolutely fitting setting for them and they joined the Endzeit camp as V2A ‚warriors‘ after the show: As "post-apocalyptic warriors" they are also part of the Endzeit community around the world and party at least as hard as their fans. The way we experienced the audience (original quote: "I've only seen something like this on TV!") they also hit home with non-scene goers and will surely be joyfully welcomed in 2023.

Boom – V2A atomisieren Annotopia!
Endlich war es soweit: Vom 09. bis 11. September erschienen V2A wie eine Druckwelle im Reich von Annotopia(Link zu Annotopiaseite) (Vorbericht – Link) und wirbelten mit ihrer Energie die fantasievoll kostümierte Menge durcheinander, als sie die Bühne in Besitz nahmen. Am Annotopia-Wochenende fand dies insgesamt 5 Mal statt. Wir rechneten spätestens Sonntag mit Ermüdungserscheinungen, aber die scheinen V2A zumindest auf der Bühne nicht zu kennen. Sie geben alles!
Mit dem ersten geilen electronic Beats zeigten sie dem Publikum, warum sie so gut zu einem Fantasy-Festival wie Annotopia passen: Allein ihr Outfit war perfekt post-apokalyptisch im Endzeitstil und die Texte ihrer Songs tragenmeist thematische Aspekte des Endzeit-Universums -- das passte wie die Faust aufs Auge! Ihre Konzertbühne war Teil des sog. Endzeitlagers, was ein wenig abgesondert durch die Schlossmauer eine eigene Welt bildete. Die Bühne ist tatsächlich ein Kritikpunkt, da sie für eine Performance wie V2A sie zu bieten haben viel zu klein war. Auch die Lightshow war eher sparsam. Aufgewogen wurde dies durch den überraschenden Einsatz von Feuerspuckern und echten Flammenwerfern, die in diesem Zusammenhang auch viel stilechter wirkten.
Der schon ältere Titel „Burn The Witch“ war der Einstieg in die Show, der passenderweise von den Feuer-Artisten des Atomiq Circus unterstützt wurde. Das sollte der Anfang einer druckvollen Performance werden, die bis zum Schluss spannend war trotz des Handicaps des geringen Raumes. Jedenfalls wackelten die Aufbauten bei jedem Auftritt stärker.
So war es nicht verwunderlich, dass das Publikum bei den ersten Takten ihre Körper in Bewegung setzten, was teilweise im Pogo endete und mehr als ein Schubsetanz war. Körpereinsatz ist das Stichwort, was Mechanized (Voice- Reina I.Lehmann) und Drone (Voice Kevin Judgedrone) zeigten. Das erwarten sie aber auch von ihrem Publikum, rumstehen ist nicht! Sie wissen, wie sie die Menge packen, antreiben und in Bewegung halten.
Wie soll das auch anders sein bei Industrial-Powerstücken wie „Freak Show“, “Toxic”, “War Boy” und nicht zuletzt dem Cover von “Hate Is Just A 4 Letter Word” der Dark Wave/Electronic Band Shock Therapy, die mit diesem Song in 90ern die Musikwelt um einen unsterblichen Klassiker bereicherten.
Es ist V2A hoch anzurechnen, dass sie auf kleinen Bühnen genauso temperamentvoll und mit diesem gewissen Herzblut auftreten wie auch auf einer großen Bühne wie beim Amphi-Festival dieses Jahres. Annotopia bot den absolut passenden Rahmen für ihre Show und sie zeigten sich auch nach den Auftritten inmitten des Endzeitlagers: Als “post-apocalyptic warriors” sind sie auch Teil der Endzeit-Gemeinde rund um die Welt und feiern mindestens genauso hart wie ihre Fans. So, wie wir das Publikum erlebten (Originalzitat: “Sowas habe ich bisher nur im TV gesehen!”) haben sie auch bei nicht Szenegängern eingeschlagen und werden 2023 sicherlich freudig empfangen werden.
