Das Dark Wave Duo Seth Dagodeus und Philippe Marlat aus Bella Italia veröffentlichten am 06.01.2023 ihr viertes Album „Together alone“ -- aus dem Hause „Cold Transmission“.
Nach dem erfolgreichen Vorgänger „Dead Season“ lassen sie uns an der Fortsetzung ihrer musikalischen Gefühlsreise teilhaben. Die aktuelle Station dieser Reise ist das Album "Together Alone" -- Gemeinsam allein.
„For years, now, we’ve been kept apart. So much so that we forgot what it means to be together, again.“ (Bandcamp).
Emotionen sind die größte Stärke des Menschen und diese Stärke spiegelt sich wunderbar in ihrer Musik wieder. Das Album beginnt mit der Singleauskopplung „Kind of Pain“, die im Video dieses seltsame Gefühl der Einsamkeit und Distanziertheit und den damit verbundenen Schmerz während und nach der Pandemie beschreibt. Die Bilder des Videos sprechen hier mehr als Worte. Es zeigt Philippe und Seth vor einem Spiegel, sie sprechen scheinbar miteinander -- sie sind sich nah und fern zugleich. Der Titel steht stellvertretend für das Konzept des Albums, das mit der Diskrepanz zwischen des seelischen Schmerzes und der Hoffnung spielt. So klingt es etwas poppiger als die vorherige Veröffentlichung, was uns persönlich gut gefällt. Es spiegelt die gesellschaftliche Stimmung wieder als Seismograph für ein emotionales "Hintergrundrauschen".
Fazit: Mit „Together Alone“ gelingt es Seth und Philippe, den Trennungsschmerz und auch die Hoffnung in Musik zu gießen. Ihre Stimmen klingen diesmal deutlicher und höher in der Spur -- damit sind die Texte klarer zu verstehen. Sie sind ein gut eingespieltes Team, dass sich so unterschiedlich wie sie sind nicht nur optisch perfekt ergänzt. Iamnoone haben eine eigene markante Note entwickelt und ihr Stil ist unverkennbar geworden. Iamnoone lassen uns wieder einmal träumen: Das Album lohnt sich.
Interview mit Iamnoone
1. Das Album "Together alone" klingt leichter und auch ein bisschen poppiger als das Vorgängeralbum "Dead Season". Worauf deutet dieser Albumtitel hin?
[Phil] Wir begannen mit dem Schreiben des Albums nach der ersten Phase der Pandemie, also im späten Frühjahr 2020, nach fast drei Monaten der Einsamkeit und des Unbehagens, in denen der Kontakt mit Menschen nur über technische Mittel und ohne "physischen" und "menschlichen" Kontakt stattfand ... so war es auch bei mir und Seth. Wir erlebten eine neue Art von Einsamkeit und eine neue Art von Nähe ... es war, als wären wir mit einem Menschen zusammen und gleichzeitig allein in unserem Zimmer ... der Titel der Platte entstand so natürlich wie der Titelsong, den wir gemeinsam im Studio schrieben, im Gegensatz zu dem meisten Material, das wir aufgrund der Beschränkungen durch die Pandemie über das Internet und über Skype austauschen mussten.
[Seth] Tatsächlich spiegeln sowohl der Titel als auch der Inhalt des Albums den Widerspruch wider, von dem Phil sprach: Einerseits waren wir im Haus eingesperrt, andererseits trafen wir uns über Skype. Das gilt auch für die Musik: Sie behandelt Themen wie Einsamkeit und Traurigkeit, aber die musikalischen Atmosphären versuchen, in gewisser Weise einen Hauch von "Hoffnung" zu vermitteln.
2. Ihr scheint sehr viel Wert auf die Verbindung zwischen Kunstwerk/Fotografie/Video und eurer Musik zu legen. Könnt ihr uns mehr darüber erzählen?
[Phil] Für uns sind Musik, Fotografie und Video ein miteinander verbundener Prozess und ein Weg, die Bedeutung unseres künstlerischen Produkts zu erweitern ... fast wie ein gemischtes Medium, das dem Betrachter mehr Schlüssel zur Interpretation unserer Songs gibt, die das Zentrum sind, um das sich alles dreht. Ich persönlich liebe die bildenden Künste und praktiziere sie, so dass das alles natürlich miteinander verbunden ist.
[Seth] Auf einem der früheren Alben gibt es einen Song namens „Synesthesia“, der sehr gut die Art und Weise beschreibt, wie wir das Leben wahrnehmen: eine Vermischung von miteinander verbundenen Wahrnehmungen, die das Sehen mit dem Hören, dem Riechen, dem Schmecken und dem Tasten verbinden. Visuelle Werke gehen Hand in Hand mit der Musik, die sie begleitet oder aus der sie hervorgehen.
3. Wie geht ihr beim Schreiben eines Albums vor? Arbeitet ihr zusammen, schicken ihr euch gegenseitig die fertigen Stücke/Soundtracks usw.?
[Phil] Wir wohnen etwa zwanzig Autominuten voneinander entfernt, so dass es ganz natürlich ist, zusammen im Studio zu sein. So wurde zum Beispiel „A primitive trinitas' in gemeinsamer Arbeit an Ideen geschrieben. Für „Dead Season“ und „Together Alone“ mussten wir uns dem historischen Moment anpassen und einen großen Teil der Zeit Dateien über das Internet austauschen, wobei wir über Skype kommunizierten. Jetzt teilen wir die Zeit im Studio miteinander.
[Seth] Wie Phil sagt, gibt es keinen einzigen Weg, um ein Ergebnis zu erzielen: Bei einigen Alben war es ganz natürlich, zusammenzuarbeiten, bei anderen war es unmöglich, und so mussten wir neue Wege finden, um unsere Musik aufzubauen. Jetzt, wo es möglich ist, ziehen wir es vor, zusammen zu arbeiten, aber als das noch nicht möglich war, mussten wir Ideen aus der Ferne austauschen und getrennt daran arbeiten, aber dank des großen Verständnisses zwischen Phil und mir war das kein Problem.

Il duo Dark Wave Seth Dagodeus e Philippe Marlat di Bella Italia ha pubblicato il quarto album "Together alone" -- da "Cold Transmission" -- il 06.01.2023.
Dopo il successo del precedente "Dead Season", ci rendono partecipi della continuazione del loro viaggio emotivo musicale. La stazione attuale di questo viaggio è l'album "Together Alone" - (Insieme da soli).
"Per anni, ormai, siamo stati tenuti separati. Tanto che abbiamo dimenticato cosa significa stare insieme, di nuovo". (Bandcamp).
Le emozioni sono la forza più grande dell'uomo e questa forza si riflette meravigliosamente nella loro musica. L'album inizia con il singolo "Kind of Pain", che nel video descrive questa strana sensazione di solitudine e distacco e il dolore ad essa associato durante e dopo la pandemia.
Le immagini del video parlano più delle parole. Il video mostra Philippe e Seth davanti a uno specchio, che sembrano parlare tra loro: sono vicini e distanti allo stesso tempo. Il titolo è rappresentativo del concetto dell'album, che gioca con la discrepanza tra dolore emotivo e speranza. Quindi suona un po' più in versione pop rispetto a quella precedente, cosa che personalmente ci piace. Riflette l'umore sociale come un sismografo per un "rumore di fondo" emotivo.
Conclusione: con "Together Alone", Seth e Philippe riescono a tradurre in musica il dolore della separazione e anche la speranza. Questa volta le loro voci suonano più chiare e più alte nel brano,
quindi i testi sono più comprensibili. Sono una squadra ben collaudata che si completa perfettamente, non solo dal punto di vista visivo.
Iamnoone ha sviluppato una propria nota distintiva e il suo stile è diventato inconfondibile.
Iamnoone ci fa sognare ancora una volta: l'album vale la pena di essere ascoltato
1. L'uscita dell'album "Together alone" suona più leggera e anche un po' più in versione pop rispetto all'album precedente "Dead Season". Che cosa suggerisce questo titolo dell'album?
[Phil] Abbiamo iniziato a scrivere il disco dopo la prima fase della pandemia, quindi nella primavera ormai inoltrata del 2020 dopo quasi tre mesi di solitudine e disagio nei quali i contatti con le persone sono avvenuti attraverso mezzi tecnologici e senza contatto ‘fisico’ e ‘umano’ … è stato lo stesso tra me e Seth.. abbiamo sperimentato un nuovo tipo di solitudine ed un nuovo tipo di vicinanza … era come essere insieme ad una persona ma allo stesso tempo da soli, nella nostra stanza … il titolo del disco è uscito in modo naturale come la title track che abbiamo scritto insieme in studio a differenza della maggior parte del materiale che a causa delle restrizioni dovute alla pandemia ci siamo dovuti scambiare via Internet e discutere su skype.
[Seth] In effetti sia il titolo che il contenuto dell’album riflettono la contraddizione di cui parlava Phil: da un lato eravamo chiusi in casa, dall’altro ci vedevamo su Skype. Così anche la musica: tratta di temi quali la solitudine e la tristezza, ma le atmosfere musicali cercano di dare un respiro in qualche modo di “speranza”.
2.Sembra che lei dia molta importanza alla connessione tra opere d'arte/fotografia/video e la sua musica. Può dirci qualcosa di più al riguardo?
[Phil] Per noi musica, fotografia e video sono un processo connesso ed un modo per espandere il significante del nostro prodotto artistico … quasi un mixed media che da’ a chi ne fruisce più chiavi di lettura dei nostri brani che poi sono il centro attorno al quale tutto ruota. Io personalmente amo le arti visive e le pratico pertanto il tutto avviene in modo naturalmente interconnesso.
[Seth] In uno degli album precedenti c’è una canzone dal titolo Synesthesia, che rappresenta molto bene il modo in cui ci piace percepire la vita: un mescolarsi di percezioni interconnesse che legano la vista all’udito, all’olfatto, al gusto e al tatto. Le opere visive vanno a braccetto con la musica che le accompagna o le fa nascere.
3. Come si procede alla scrittura di un album? Lavorate insieme, vi inviate a vicenda i pezzi finiti/le colonne sonore, eccetera?
[Phil] Viviamo a circa venti minuti di auto l’uno dall’altro pertanto il fatto stare insieme in studio è piuttosto naturale. „A primitive trinitas“ è stato scritto ad esempio lavorando insieme sulle idee. Per „Dead season“ e „Together alone“ ci siamo dovuti adattare momento storico e nostro malgrado ci siamo dovuti per buona parte del tempo scambiare files via internet comunicando poi con skype. Ora stiamo condividendo il tempo in studio insieme.
[Seth] Come dice Phil, non c’è un modo unico per ottenere un risultato: se per alcuni album è stato naturale lavorarci insieme, per altri, è stato impossibile e quindi abbiamo dovuto trovare nuove vie per costruire la nostra musica. Ora che è possibile, preferiamo lavorare insieme, ma quando non lo era, dovevamo per forza scambiarci idee a distanza e lavorarci separatamente, ma grazie alla grandissima intesa tra me e Phil, non è stato un problema.

The Dark Wave duo Seth Dagodeus and Philippe Marlat from Bella Italia released their fourth album "Together alone" -- from "Cold Transmission" -- on 06.01.2023.
After the successful previous "Dead Season" they let us participate in the continuation of their musical emotional journey. The current station of this journey is the album "Together Alone".

Emotions are human's greatest strength and this strength is beautifully reflected in their music. The album begins with the single "Kind of Pain", which in the video describes this strange feeling of loneliness and detachment and the pain associated with it during and after the pandemic. The images of the video speak more than words here. It shows Philippe and Seth in front of a mirror, they seem to be talking to each other -- they are close and distant at the same time. The title is representative of the album's concept, which plays with the discrepancy between emotional pain and hope. So it sounds a bit more poppy than the previous release, which we personally like. It reflects the social mood as a seismograph for an emotional "background noise".
Conclusion: With "Together Alone", Seth and Philippe succeed in pouring the pain of separation and also hope into music. Their voices sound clearer and higher on the track this time -- so the lyrics are clearer to understand. They are a well-established team that complements each other perfectly, not only visually. Iamnoone have developed their own distinctive note and their style has become unmistakable. Iamnoone let us dream once again: the album is worth it.
1. The album release 'Together alone' sounds lighter and also a bit more pop than the previous album 'Dead Season'. What does this album title suggest?
[Phil] We started writing the album after the first phase of the pandemic, so in the now late spring of 2020 after almost three months of loneliness and discomfort in which contact with people was through technological means and without 'physical' and 'human' contact ... it was the same with me and Seth. we experienced a new kind of loneliness and a new kind of closeness ... it was like being together with a person but at the same time alone in our room ... the title of the record came out as naturally as the title track which we wrote together in the studio unlike most of the material which because of the restrictions due to the pandemic we had to exchange via the internet and discuss on skype.
[Seth] In fact, both the title and the content of the album reflect the contradiction Phil was talking about: on the one hand we were locked in the house, on the other we were meeting on Skype. So does the music: it deals with themes such as loneliness and sadness, but the musical atmospheres try to give a breath of 'hope' in some way.
2. You seem to attach a lot of importance to the connection between artwork/photography/video and your music. Can you tell us more about this?
[Phil] For us, music, photography and video are a connected process and a way to expand the meaning of our artistic product ... almost a mixed media that gives the viewer more keys to interpreting our songs, which are the centre around which everything revolves. I personally love visual arts and I practice them so it's all naturally interconnected.
[Seth] In one of the previous albums there is a song called Synesthesia, which represents very well the way we like to perceive life: a mingling of interconnected perceptions that link sight to hearing, smell, taste and touch. Visual works go hand in hand with the music that accompanies them or gives birth to them.
3. How do you go about writing an album? Do you work together, do you send each other finished tracks/soundtracks, etc.?
[Phil] We live about twenty minutes drive from each other so being in the studio together is quite natural. For example „A primitive trinitas“ was written working together on ideas. For „Dead Season“ and „'Together Alone“ we had to adapt to the historical moment and despite ourselves we had to exchange files via the internet a lot of the time and communicate via Skype. Now we are sharing studio time together.
[Seth] As Phil says, there is no one way to achieve a result: if for some albums it was natural to work together, for others, it was impossible and so we had to find new ways to build our music. Now that it's possible, we prefer to work together, but when it wasn't, we had to exchange ideas at a distance and work on them separately, but thanks to the great understanding between Phil and me, it wasn't a problem.
